Le positionnement de l’archiviste face à l’oubli est de fait ambigu : il doit assumer sa part de responsabilité dans la construction de l’oubli mais il est aussi celui qui, au plus proche des sources, peut en tirer certaines de l’oubli. S’il œuvre pour l’accès aux sources dans un souci de transparence démocratique, il n’en est pas moins le garant de la pacification de la mémoire. Abstract : This article investigates the notion of “the right to be forgotten” from the viewpoint of archival science in the French context. The positioning of the archivist with respect to oblivion is de facto ambiguous: he has to undertake his own part of responsibilities in the upbuilding of oblivion but he also is the one who, being the closest possible to the sources, could save somebody from falling into oblivion.
